Rapist nurse jailed after repeatedly attacking woman

A male nurse has been jailed after being found guilty of multiple counts of rape against his then girlfriend. 

Joshua Kemp, 27 of Bolton appeared at Manchester Minshull Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

After a trial, the jury decided that Kemp was guilty three of the five charges. 

The court was told that the first rape took place in 2010, when he and the victim were both 18 years old. At this time, he was working as a care worker for the elderly and vulnerable

Kemp used extreme violence against the girl, to both assert control and to scare the victim into silence. 

The girl finally found the courage to leave him in 2014, but Kemp again raped her using violence and threats. 

The girl went to police and reported Kemp for repeatedly raping her. 

It was at this point that Kemp started a placement at Bolton A&E.

The hospital were aware he had been charged with rape, but allowed him to continue to work there until he first appeared in court.

The judge handed Kemp three 12-year prison sentences, all of which would run concurrenty meaning Kemps total sentence was 12 years of which he must six in prison and six on license. 

He was told that he must register as a sex offender.
