Man jailed for five years for raping woman in Glenrothes

A man who raped a woman in Glenrothes, Fife in 2019 has been sent to prison for five years.

Daniel Ross was sentenced at Edinburgh High Court on Thursday, July 22.

The 36-year-old, originally from Wales, targeted the woman while she slept at an address in Glenrothes on Sunday February 24, 2019.

Sentencing, Lord Braid said messages between Ross and his victim proved she would not have consented to sex, even if she had not been sleeping.

As well as his prison sentence, he has been placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.

Ross was sentenced at Edinburgh High Court on Thursday 22 July 2021.
