A beast who burned cigarettes on a rape victim and branded her a “wh**e” has been caged after raping another woman twice before texting her to apologise
Shaun Scott, 23, from Lockerbie, attacked his latest victim twice at an address in Dumfriesshire in October 2017.
She told the High Court in Glasgow: “When it happened I was screaming the place down and saying no”.
He was convicted of raping the woman on two occasions in Sanquhar in 2017
He was also found guilty of raping another woman when she was 16-years-old on numerous occasions between March 2011 and February 2012.
His second victim told how he would burn her with cigarettes and call her names like “slapper” and “whore”.
Judge Tom Hughes paid tribute to Scott’s victims for coming forward, saying: “They had the courage to come to court and they hopefully ensured you will not be not be able to do this to any future partner.
“Hopefully they can put this behind them and move on in the future.”
The 20-year-old, who had been in a relationship with Scott, told the jury that she wrote a text to him saying: “There’s nothing between us now.
“Clearly you don’t force someone u ‘love’ to have sex TWICE. There’s a word for that – rape.”
Scott texted back: “I am really sorry a am, honestly man.”
In evidence Scott denied raping either woman and claimed that he was apologising for pushing the 20-year-old over.
He said: “I struggle with reading and writing and I didn’t see the word rape in the text.”
Scott was jailed for seven years and placed on the sex offenders’ register.
He was also ordered to be monitored in the community for two years after his release.
