Former councillor pleads guilty to indecent images charges
A former councillor will now be sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court after pleading guilty to possessing more than 600 indecent images of children.
Alan Cox, 46, of Byron Square, Trumpington, Cambridge, had been due to be sentenced at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 28
However, his sentencing has now been sent to be dealt with at Cambridge Crown Court, which has more sentencing powers.
Pervert Cox was elected to represent the Trumpington ward at Cambridge City Council in 2021, but resigned earlier this year. A by-election for the ward is due to take place in August.
Earlier this month, Cox pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of a child.
Court documents state that he was in possession of a total of 664 indecent images of children.
Mr Cox will appear in Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, September 5 for sentencing
