Sex pest groped teenage girl on fairground ride

A serial sex offender has been found guilty of indecently assaulting a teenage girl.

Scott Williams was also convicted of sexually assaulting another woman on two separate occasions.

It emerged after the jury found him guilty that he had previously been convicted of having sex with an underage girl and was placed on the sex offenders register.

Thirty-one-year-old Williams, of Arbroath, had been on trial at the High Court in Aberdeen accused of committing a series of offences between April 2006 and September 2008.

The court heard he targeted one of his victims on a fairground ride at the Riverside in Dundee.

He put his hand under the clothing of the 14-year-old girl.

The incident happened between May 2007 and April the following year.

The court heard he committed another sexual assault at a property in Brechin.

On that occasion he molested a woman and placed his hands on her thigh and beneath her clothing, between February and September 2008.

Over the same period he attacked the same woman in a car in Brechin’s Infirmary Street.

He entered the back of the parked vehicle and placed his hand on her thigh, pinned her to the rear seat and later placed his hands on her thighs.

Williams, of 1 Great Michael Road, Arbroath, had also been accused of attacking a woman at a house in Brechin between April 2006 and September 2008, but the returned a not proven verdict.

Advocate depute Ian Wallace told the court: “He was convicted in 2009 for having sex with someone between the age of 13 and 16.

“He was imprisoned for 12 months and placed on the sex offenders register.”

Judge Lord Burns remanded Williams in custody and deferred sentence for background reports to assess what risk he posed to the public.

He will appear at the High Court in Glasgow for sentence on November 22.
