North Devon man guilty of sexual offences

A 65-year-old man from North Devon has been found guilty of multiple sex assaults.

Albert Day, also known as Peter Day, has been standing trial at Exeter Crown Court.

He was accused of historic sex offences against three victims. The charges related to incidents between 1974 and 1991.

Day, of Moory Meadow, Combe Martin, pleaded not guilty to all the allegations. He claimed the woman had made up the claims against him.

The trial heard evidence from his victims. The jury retired on Friday to consider verdicts after hearing closing speeches from prosecution and defence. Judge Timothy Rose summed up the evidence and gave legal directions.

Day was found guilty of all but two of the allegations which included indecent assault and rape. Judge Rose listed the case for sentence on July 15.
