Paedophile abused three young girls – jailed

A vile paedophile that abused three young girls before leading police on a high speed chase as he tried to evade arrest burst into tears in the dock as he was jailed for over 10 years.

Kenneth Harrison, 38, sexually assaulted three girls, but his offending finally came to light later when one of his victims bravely reported the abuse.

Harrison would regularly sexually abuse the young girls while carrying out a sex act on himself.

The assaults took place on numerous occasions an all three victims.

On March 11 this year, officers went to his County Durham home to arrest him, but he was spotted behind the wheel of a car and took off “at speed” when he saw the police, leading officers on a chase that lasted 18 minutes and involved

Harrison running red lights and hitting speeds of up to 90mph without any lights on.

On Tuesday, Harrison appeared at Teesside Crown Court, via a link from HMP Durham, to be sentenced for offences of sexual assault of a child and one count of dangerous driving.

He pleaded guilty to the charges at a previous hearing.
The court was told that Harrison’s offending impacted three separate lives and he burst into tears as the prison sentence was given.

Sentencing Harrison, Judge Chris Smith said: “Your actions have created three separate victims which will impact three separate lives.”

He added: “You have expressed remorse, which I’m satisfied means it’s appropriate to give you full credit for your guilty pleas.”

Harrison was given a prison sentence of 10 years and eight months and will be on the sex offender’s register for life.

Because of the time he will spend in custody, he was banned from driving for eight years and four months and must sit an extended re-test.

With his head in his hands, Harrison burst into tears after the lengthy sentence was passed.

Darlington pervert must wait to learn his fate

A pervert who systematically abused three young girls has admitted his depraved behaviour when his brave victims finally spoke out.

Kenneth Harrison had abused all three victims over a protracted period until the first reported the sexual abuse in March this year.

The 38-year-old faced a catalogue of charges when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court.

A judge heard how the Darlington man’s abuse had left the victims devastated and they were now trying to rebuild their lives.

Robin Turton, prosecuting, said outlined how Harrison would regularly sexually abuse the young girls while carrying out a sex act on himself.

He said the assaults took place on numerous occasions an all three victims.

A victim impact statement from one of the complaints read: “I have tried to write this so many times but the truth is that I just feel sad, relieved that I spoke out, confused and upset.”

She added that the assaults had caused her to suffer trauma which has left her unable to sleep and suffering from nightmares.

Mr Turton said: “The police sought to arrest the defendant when they attended his home where the defendant was seen to be driving a vehicle, officers opened the driver’s door and he drove off at speed with the officers in pursuit.

“The defendant drove at excessive speed with the pursuit lasting 18 minutes, the vehicle was driven without lights at speeds in excess of 90mph in 30 mph zones and through red lights.”

Harrison, of Trinity Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offences and an additional charge of dangerous driving after trying to flee the police when they came to arrest him.

Harrison, who was remanded in custody, will appear before the same judge next week to be sentenced.
