Sexual ‘predator jailed

A former Wirral man who sexually abused a 14-year-old boy has been jailed for seven years.

A judge described Malcolm Montgomery as “a manipulative predator”.

Montgomery, 51, was ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and banned from working with children and being in the company of youngsters under 16, unless another adult is present.

Judge Denis Clark said that he had “targeted and groomed” the victim, which had had a traumatic effect on the boy.

He also pointed out that Montgomery had been cleared of raping boys in 2001 and 2003.

Montgomery, of Water Street, Rhyl, North Wales, had been convicted by a Liverpool Crown Court jury of six offences of sexual activity with the boy between October 2004 and January 31 last year.
