Paedophile sentenced for horrendous sexual abuse of young girl

A sex predator from Cumbria has been sent to prison after being found guilty of a campaign of sexual abuse against a very young child.

Darren Raven, of Victoria Road, Barrow, was found guilty on six counts which included offences of:

• – Sexual activity with a child under 13 by penetration,

• – Sexual assault of a child under 13 by touching,

• – Sexual activity with a child

• – Engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

The offences all occurred between 2006 and 2010.

Raven denied that he had committed the repugnant offences, however a jury concluded he was guilty.

The 54-year-old was found guilty of the offences following an eight-day trial at Preston Crown Court held earlier this year.

Raven was jailed for 13 years, issued with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will also be entered onto the sexual offenders register.
