Poilce are hunting convicted sex offender

Police are hunting a two time convicted rapist who was jailed after a terrifying kidnap and attack on a 14-year-old girl.

Sean Phipps is on the run after failing to return to ‘open prison’ HMP Leyhill in Gloucestershire

The 51-year-old, who has previously gone by surnames Cawthray, Goldthorpe and Perry, was on day release from the jail when he vanished.

He is serving a prison sentence after kidnapping a schoolgirl in Leeds in 2002.

The teenager was waiting at a bus stop when the thug grabbed her by her hair and dragged her through an alleyway to a brook, Leicestershire Live reports.

He covered her face to stifle her screams. The terrified girl was struggling to breathe when a young boy in a garden spotted Phipps and ran for his grandfather.

Before that, Phipps was jailed twice for rape.

In 1993, he attacked a 20-year-old woman while he studied art at Leicester’s De Montford University.

Several years earlier, he was caged for raping a 15-year-old girl and attempting to rape another youngster. Both of those crimes were committed in Leeds.

Phipps previously vanished from custody in 2017. He was arrested in Leicestershire after disappearing from a probation-approved address.

They describe Phipps as white and 6ft 2ins tall.

He was last seen wearing a black coat over a blue top, blue jeans and Timberland footwear.

He also wore a black Casio watch and blue glasses, and carried a vape pen with him, Avon and Somerset Police say.

Officers are asking anybody who sees him to call 999. Members of the public are warned not to approach him.

Phipps is known to have links to Leeds as well as Leicester.

Anyone who sees Phipps to call 999 and give reference number 5222130002.”
