Appeal judges dismiss Kidlington paedophile’s case

Appeal judges threw out a Kidlington paedophile’s attempt to overturn his sentence.

Bertalan Oszlanszki, now 28, was jailed for 14-and-a-half years at Oxford Crown Court last year for raping a child under-13.

It followed a conviction the previous year for a string of sexual offences against an underage girl with whom he was in an illicit relationship.

Then 26, Oszlanszki told the girl of his desire to shout his love ‘from the top of a mountain – but I can’t’. Another message to the schoolgirl read: “I miss your bum.” He was given more than two and a half years’ imprisonment for the offending.

Oszlanszki took his 14-and-a-half year sentence to the Court of Appeal this week, with lawyers for the paedophile claiming it was manifestly excessive.

The panel of three appeal judges, sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, dismissed the appeal.

Pervert jailed for grooming child

A pervert, called ‘baby’ by his child victim, groomed a schoolgirl and took nude photos of her.

Depraved pervert Bertalan Oszlanszki, of Oak Drive, Kidlington, had already admitted sexual activity with a child, sexual communication, and making indecent images.

Oxford Crown Court heard at his sentencing hearing today how Oszlanszki had ‘groomed’ his victim and communicated with her using Facetime and messaging software.

He was stored in the child’s phone as ‘baby” and one message sent by Oszlanszki to his victim read: “I am truly and deeply in love with you, I feel like shouting it out from the top of a mountain but I can’t.”

After suspicions were raised Oszlanszki’s mobile phone was seized and investigators went on to discover a number of indecent images.

These were made up of six images including the child in her underwear as well as Facetime images of her semi-naked.

One image featured a ‘penetrative sexual act’, the court heard.

Prosecutors also said that the pair had been spotted by a number of eyewitnesses kissing ‘passionately’ as well as walking in Oxford holding hands.

After Oszlanszki was quizzed by police on the apparent relationship he was found to have sent further messages to the child.

One message read to the court said ‘I miss your bum and your t***ies and everything.’

In another he said to the girl – who cannot be named for legal reasons – he was driving and if he didn’t answer her it was ‘probably because he is dead.’

He also told his victim to delete messages, prosecutors said.

Prosecutor Alexandra Bull said of the messages: “The crown say he is putting pressure on her.”

In mitigation at the hearing defence barrister Gareth James said the relationship had been a ‘two-way street’.

He said the victim ‘was a participant in it to some degree’ and added that his client had admitted the offences at the first opportunity.

Sentencing, Judge Maria Lamb called the relationship ‘an unhealthy association’ and called the offending ‘grooming behaviour.’

Oszlanszki was jailed for a total of two years and eight months and must sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
