London teacher sexually abused children as young as 8 after making them watch porn

A teacher from London who worked at an international school groomed and sexually abused two children from the ages of eight and nine.

While working at an English school in the United Arab Emirates, Paul Shinn gained the trust of two young pupils and encouraged them to spend time with him through the offer of gifts and trips.

Shinn, 49, then sexually assaulted his victims on a number of occasions and took indecent photographs of them.

In an attempt to sexualise them, he forced them to watch sex scenes in films before moving on to pornography, as well as showing them condoms.

His campaign of abuse against the children lasted for eight years until in March 2019 he was dismissed from his job following allegations that he had sexually assaulted children.

The following month Shinn returned to the UK where he was arrested after the school reported him to the National Crime Agency

Shinn, who had worked as a teacher at the school since 2004, was charged with six counts of child sexual abuse.

In January he appeared before a jury at Kingston Crown Court who found him guilty of the sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of sexual activity with a child, and two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act.

On Tuesday (April 12) he was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison with a further two years on licence. He is also the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
