Barnsley paedophile messaged ‘mother’ of child he wanted to abuse
A vile paedophile from Barnsley who planned to carry out a series of sickening sexual offences against a child has been jailed.
Lee Haughton, 46, of South Hiendley, was caught by police as he attempted to use the internet to contact children.
Sick Haughton was handed a 14-year prison term at Sheffield Crown Court last week and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register after he admitted conspiracy to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence, three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child and possession of a prohibited image of a child.
South Yorkshire Police said Haughton thought he was exchanging “disgusting” messages with the mother of young children, but was actually talking to officers tasked with trapping online sex offenders across the region.
He was arrested on June 30 last year and was found with a bag of sex toys the force say he had planned to use in the crimes.
He received a 14-year sentence. He must also sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
